The Monthly Balance Sheet is a ready-to-use Excel template that gives a clear snapshot of the financial position of an individual or a household for a single month. It suits individuals, families, freelancers and small business owners who want to monitor their net worth, as well as financial advisers preparing statements for their clients. The header holds the reporting month and the name of the owner of the balance sheet. The Assets section is divided into Liquid Assets, Investments and Property, with three lines in each category for items such as cash on hand, a savings account, stocks and shares, cryptocurrency, a personal vehicle and jewellery. The Liabilities section is divided into Short-Term Liabilities and Long-Term Liabilities and covers items such as credit card debt, household bills payable, a car loan and a personal loan. Each category includes a spare line where an additional item can be entered. For every item, two amounts are entered: the value at the start of the month and the value at the end of the month. In the Net Worth Summary, total assets and total liabilities are calculated automatically by formulas for both columns. Net worth is calculated as total assets minus total liabilities, so the start-of-month and end-of-month figures can be compared at a glance to see how the financial position has changed. All amounts are formatted in US dollars, and the sheet is set up to print on a single A4 page.
